  • How long have you been a videographer and how did you get started in the business?
Filming has been a passionate hobby of mine for around 3 years, i started off filming family holidays and birthdays and went on tour with the Knights of Nottingham  (jousting) which was fantastic, however it was filming at my brothers wedding, which made me realise the direction i wanted to take and develop into a  new career. I love working in the wedding industry, capturing a couples special day is an amazing experience.  When I edit the footage I  watch the same clip  around 10-20 times, but for me It never loses its charm. In terms of myself, my favourite part is handing over the final edit , nothing beats watching the reaction of the newlyweds when they watch their video for the first time.

  • What's your approach to the day and your style of shooting?
Every couple is unique, therefore each wedding has a different approach. My aim is to tell a story with the film in the couples preferred style, i have done a journalistic approach for a couple who were adamant they wanted a natural flow with no interaction with the lens, whereas, other couples enjoy a more scripted approach capturing all those special moments in a fairy-tale ending.   As a videographer I aim to be as discreet as possible, I want you to enjoy your day and not get in your way. Where possible I use my gimbal camera rig as it allows me to stay on the move compared to a traditional tripod  which is very restrictive and can easily get in the way. I will only use a tripod when necessary eg. when filming the ceremony and all speeches.
  • Which parts of the day do you not shoot?
I will capture as much of your day as I possibly can, on average I capture  around 3 hours of footage which I will edit down to 60-90 mins. Usually the final edits consist off
Bridal Preparation (3-4 min highlights to music)
Arrival of the guests and bride (3-4  min highlights to music)
Ceremony ( Full edit  ) depending on the service
Photo Shoot - Family and Friends ( 3-5 mins highlights to music)
Speeches (Full edit) depending on length of speeches
Cake Cutting (2mins highlights )
First dance (3-5 mins full edit )
Evening entertainment (3-5 min highlights )

  • Two potential concerns of ours are (1) the size of the camera in such a small venue (we don't want our guests' views to be obstructed or for our guests to feel uncomfortable - we've got 120 people coming in the day and 150 in the evening), and (2) the camera getting in the way of or disrupting our two photographers.  Can you provide us with any comfort on these two points?
Where possible I use the camera gimbal as this allows me to keep on the move so I am not in the way of you , your guests or your photographer. During the ceremony I use 1 camera on a tripod at the front of the church and another at the rear to capture the isle shots. With the first dance I use my gimbal and try to follow the photographer around the perimeter of the dance floor  working as a team , I am always conscious about being in the pictures, however ,I do not mind having the photographer in my footage as they are an integral part of your day.

  •  Do we get the full footage and if so, how long is this usually?  We've seen your 4-8 minute clips - do we get something like this set over music in addition to the full footage?  Do you edit all of the footage?  Do we get input into the music used?
Usually I do not supply all of the footage, as the files total 100-150 GB  ,  unless you have a powerful PC the files will not play.   Apart from the ceremony and speeches, I edit everything else to music. I am happy to use your selection of music for the edit, but would appreciate it if you could please forward it to me before the wedding, as it would help me to begin creating the templates ready for the footage.

  • How long after the wedding are we provided with the footage and on what format is it provided?
It takes around 40-50 hours to go through the footage and edit the highlights to music, I aim to have the video with you within 6 weeks on a usb drive

  • What equipment do you use?  Do you use intrusive lighting?  How do you capture the audio throughout the day?
When possible I will rely on natural lighting, when external lighting is required I attach the lamp directly to the camera, my main concern with external lighting is that creates multiple shadows, plus it can effect the photographers work.   My equipment consists of 2 cameras , 2 tripods (when needed) , gimbal camera rig, and external microphones. I only capture the audio for the ceremony , speeches and first dance ,the other edits will be overlaid with music.

  • What's the booking process and how much is the deposit?
If you do decide to go ahead and book a package, I ask for £150 deposit to secure your date, and then no further payment is required until i personally deliver the footage to you.

  • Do we speak to you before the wedding about what exactly we are looking for?  Do you coordinate with our wedding photographer before the day?
I prefer to meet with you a few weeks before the wedding to discuss the schedule for your day. You can inform me of your preferred style, any special requests and discuss any remaining concerns you may have, if possible i aim to attend the rehearsal
(If I am available).

Hope this helps as I appreciate  this is a big decision.  If you have any further questions please contact me.
